Downloading your folder image

One editor, three systems

Start with the right folder and file type

FolderIcon.App uses a folder shape made for each system. This helps the result fit beside the icons already on your desktop. The download menu also points you to the file type that each system accepts.

macOS

Use the Mac folder shape, then export a clear PNG for the Finder Get Info workflow.

How it works

From blank folder to ready file

  1. 1

    Choose the base

Select Mac, Windows, KDE, or GNOME. You can also use your own PNG, WebP, SVG, or JPEG as the folder base.

  2. 2

    Add a clear marker

Set a color, pick a built-in symbol, drop in your own image, or add a short text tag. Use the live preview to check the result.

  3. 3

    Export and apply

Choose 128, 256, or 512 pixels. Save PNG for Mac and Linux, or ICO for Windows, then apply it with your system tools.

Made for useful icons

Keep folders easy to spot

A good folder icon must still make sense in a small list or sidebar. Use one clear symbol, short text, and enough contrast between the folder and its marker. Keep a 512×512 copy so you can make smaller files later without losing detail.

If you are not sure which file to use, read the PNG, ICO, and ICNS guide. For color and label systems that stay clear across many folders, see the folder icon ideas guide.
